Though autumn always comes late to Shenzhen, after White Dew one can already feel the lingering heat of summer gradually fading from mornings and evenings. In the heart arises the scene of autumn winds stirring for the first time… The earth seems to transform into a richly colored scroll— and the maple leaf becomes its most stirring brushstroke. From the lush green of summer to the fiery brilliance of autumn, it celebrates time and life in their most resplendent form.
The maple leaf’s symbolism transcends cultures. In the East, it embodies poetry and longing. Ancient verses sang of its quiet endurance: “maples tinted by frost stand out in the woods,” expressing the serenity and timelessness of passing seasons. After summer’s exuberance, autumn winds strip away restlessness. Du Mu’s line—“Frosted leaves are redder than spring flowers”—remains a timeless ode to late autumn’s beauty. In the West, the maple represents gratitude and hope after the harvest. For Native Americans, the maple is revered as the “Sacred Tree”; from maple tea to maple syrup, it embodies nature’s gifts. Its vivid crimson hue symbolizes courage, return, and the eternal cycle of renewal.
This collection draws deeply from the romance of Chinese classical poetry while weaving in the luminous artistry of Western stained glass. We once again employ the rare Plique-à-jour enameling technique, creating delicate silver frameworks that hold transparent “windows of enamel” without any backing.
In design, unlike the earlier Ginkgo Leaf series, we sought harmony between tradition and modernity. The maple leaf is deconstructed and reshaped into a geometric abstraction. With fine silver lines outlining its graceful form, warm tones of yellow, orange, and red enamel are layered in soft gradations, capturing the dappled play of autumn light and shadow. This is both a bold departure from traditional leaf motifs and a contemporary interpretation of natural beauty. When light passes through, the leaf seems to gain a soul, radiating the mellow richness of late autumn. Like sunlight filtering through dense foliage, it casts “splendid maple shadows,” silently inviting us to slow our steps and admire the restrained yet radiant charm of red that does not clamor for attention.
Each piece of jewelry is a vessel of emotion. Earrings, as light as maple wings, sway gently with each step, accentuating the wearer’s grace. Pendants resemble clusters of autumn sunlight, carrying the essence of “maples ablaze in the autumn glow”—illuminating the heart with warmth and tenderness. Maple Splendor is both a romantic gift, carrying vows as fiery as crimson leaves, and a companion for everyday life, reminding us that even after seasons of wind and frost, life can once again shine in brilliance, blossoming into its own unique splendor.
As autumn deepens and maples glow, there are always moments worth pausing for. May this touch of “mountains clad in crimson” awaken gratitude and hope for the future, becoming a vivid imprint that inspires us to embrace the fullness of life.
On the occasion of the Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day, may everyone’s life be as radiant and abundant as the maple leaves—filled with the joy of harvest, the warmth of reunion, and the anticipation of tomorrow—overflowing with happiness that endures.
