Thunderstorm Season | Finding Glimpses of Light in Everyday Life

Spread the love

Before we know it, half the year has quietly slipped by.

As life enters one of its busiest seasons, we find ourselves learning to slow down. With the Dragon Boat Festival and the Summer Solstice just around the corner, the rhythm of each day seems to soften beneath low-hanging clouds and days of steady rain.

Recently, heavy downpours have arrived and faded in turns, washing over rooftops and treetops, leaving the streets remarkably still. Here in Guangdong, this period of persistent seasonal rainfall is known as the Dragon Boat Rains, arriving just before the Dragon Boat Festival. Along the rivers, the sound of drums grows louder as crews prepare for the dragon boat races, while outside the window, wind and rain quietly reveal nature’s own seasonal rhythm. Though these rains may sometimes interrupt our plans, they also feel like an invitation from nature—encouraging us to pause and see the world from a different perspective.

Our little balcony garden has been especially generous this year. Green lemons hang from the branches, and the greatest surprise has been a pineapple crown we planted two years ago. This year, it finally flowered and began to bear fruit. Tiny purple blossoms emerged one by one from the base upward before gradually giving way to the fruit itself—a quiet reminder of the Creator’s remarkable design. Our jasmine has also bloomed more abundantly than ever. After the rain, its delicate fragrance mingles with the scent of damp earth, bringing an unexpected sense of peace and contentment. These simple moments, though easily overlooked, have a gentle way of restoring the heart.

Modern life is always urging us forward, yet nature follows its own unhurried rhythm. Flowers bloom in their season. Light shifts quietly through the day. Nothing demands our attention, yet everything is there, patiently waiting to be noticed. The more closely we observe these small changes, the more we realize that beauty is rarely found in grand occasions. Instead, it lives in ordinary mornings, familiar corners, and the quiet details of everyday life.

As evening slowly settles outside and the lingering fragrance of jasmine fills the air, the Summer Solstice approaches, bringing the longest day of the year. The seasons continue their gentle cycle, just as they always have. Perhaps it is these quiet experiences that inspired us to create our Four Seasons Imagery Collection. Through translucent vitreous enamel, we hope to preserve the fleeting light, colors, and emotions that each season offers. Rather than capturing a single moment in time, the collection is a reminder that every season holds something worth cherishing.

When we choose to slow down—to notice the fragrance after the rain, the shifting light through the trees, or even an unassuming Daisy blooming by the roadside.we begin to see that a rich and meaningful life is not built upon extraordinary moments, but upon these quiet, grace-filled experiences that accompany us each day. With an open and grateful heart, we discover that beauty has been surrounding us all along.

May we each find a moment of stillness and gratitude amid life’s constant movement.

Wishing you peace, good health, and a joyful Dragon Boat Festival. May your summer be filled with light.
