Vernal Equinox | Gentle Chimes, Happiness Returns

Spread the love

During my morning workout, I was listening to a podcast when I learned that today is the International Day of Happiness! To celebrate this special occasion, I’d love to share two early creations from JR-workshop—Lily of the Valley and Graceful Bluebells.

Outside my window, thanks to the abundant spring rain, the lush green treetops are stretching beyond the rooftops, merging seamlessly with the sky. As I sit in front of my computer, the image of Lily of the Valley suddenly flashes through my mind. It’s rarely seen in local flower markets—perhaps this is a beautiful sign of divine inspiration…

Blossoming between spring and summer, Lily of the Valley unfolds like tiny bells of happiness, glistening in pure white and swaying gently in the breeze. Nestled between vibrant green leaves, these delicate flowers exude elegance and tranquility while carrying a quiet resilience. Their subtle fragrance whispers of romance and serenity, drifting softly through the air…In China, Lily of the Valley is poetically known as “君影草” (Jun Ying Cao, the Gentleman’s Shadow Grass), evoking Confucius’ timeless words:”Orchids thrive deep in the valley; though unseen, their fragrance remains. A gentleman cultivates virtue, undeterred by hardship.”This delicate bloom symbolizes a quiet yet noble spirit.

The English name, Lily of the Valley, meaning the lily of the valley, carries an equally poetic touch—like a woman unwavering in love, pure and steadfast, perceptible only to those who truly listen. The French have a deep fondness for this flower. In May, Paris is adorned with these tiny blossoms, as people exchange them as tokens of happiness and good fortune. It’s also a cherished wedding tradition to gift a bouquet of Lily of the Valley to the bride, symbolizing the arrival of happiness.

A well-known legend ties Lily of the Valley to the Virgin Mary. It is said that as she wept at the foot of the cross, mourning Jesus, her tears fell to the earth and blossomed into these pure, fragrant flowers. This is why Lily of the Valley is also called “Our Lady’s Tears”, embodying purity, compassion, and hope.

Since ancient times, Lily of the Valley has carried beautiful blessings. It is said that those who receive this flower will be graced with happiness, and its fragrance heralds the dawn of new hope. But this melody of joy is only heard by those who cherish it. The Lily of the Valley brooch from JR-workshop is crafted in 925 sterling silver, meticulously sculpted to capture the intricate details of petals and leaves—just like tiny bells swaying in the wind, softly whispering a wish for happiness to return.

Meanwhile, Bluebells exude a playful charm, resembling tiny bells swaying in the forest breeze. Their delicate, nodding blooms seem to compose a gentle, lyrical melody, celebrating the elegance of nature. Our Graceful Bluebells brooch is a tribute to this enchanting beauty.

In nature’s grand poetry, flowers are more than just symbols of beauty—they carry emotions and stories. Open your heart, and let their essence flow into your creations. Lily of the Valley and Bluebells—two ethereal blooms, like soft melodies, whispering of purity, hope, and the return of happiness. At JR-workshop, we honor the art of craftsmanship, distilling this elegance and poetry into each handmade piece, bestowing the wearer with an aura of quiet grace.

In our fast-paced world, we all need reminders that life isn’t just about rushing forward—it’s also about those moments when the breeze brushes your face, and the chimes ring softly in the distance. May these two brooches be a symbol of warmth and happiness in your heart, keeping purity and hope always close by.
