Originally planned for a March release, the Still Waters Run Deep enamel earrings have finally surfaced. In truth, the initial design was completed as early as spring 2023. Yet, the unpredictable nature of enamel art has proven to be a challenge beyond full control. Each kiln firing is like a journey into the unknown—subtle variations in glaze composition, ambient humidity, or kiln temperature can conjure surprising hues, gifting each piece of enamel jewelry a one-of-a-kind signature.
In pursuit of the ideal watery tones—clear, layered, and alive—we had to tame our impatience. We tested, adjusted, and waited. Again and again. Only through these countless trials did we come to appreciate the subtlety of enamel: its beauty lies in the passage of time, and the honing of patience…“It’s okay to go slow, as long as you don’t stop.”A fleeting phrase that once offered quiet reassurance—and to all who waited with us, thank you.
In Eastern philosophy, water is a symbol of both gentleness and strength. Lao Tzu wrote, “The highest virtue is like water. Water benefits all things and does not contend.” It nurtures all things without seeking recognition; it may appear soft, yet it carries the power to shape stone. Clear, deep, and embracing—it moves not by force, but by quiet persistence. One can’t help but recall Hermann Hesse’s Siddhartha, who finds enlightenment as he watches the river’s unceasing flow…
Inspired by this vision, the Still Waters Run Deep earrings are crafted by hand with a base of sterling silver and a transparent blue-green enamel glaze. Beneath the surface, hand-engraved wave-like patterns ripple faintly, like the sky mirrored in a quiet pond. Silver lines flow smoothly and organically, capturing the supple strength of water. In the space of a small earring, nature’s vitality and inner calm converge—subtle and serene, yet full of depth and energy…As light shifts, the earrings shimmer with a soft, luminous glow—never shouting, never rushing, but always quietly present.
Still waters run deep, unconcerned with pleasing others, unhurried to explainf…May you, too, find your quiet strength in this noisy world—a peace that holds steady, and a gentleness that endures.
