A time to weep and a time to laugh,
a time to mourn and a time to dance.
— Ecclesiastes 3:4
I once wrote about ballet. I remember the little girl redeemed in Léon: The Professional, who later became the dancer of light and shadow in Black Swan—a journey from innocence to maturity. It also reminds me of the little mermaid in fairy tales, who willingly endured the pain of walking on knives for love…Beauty and love have always demanded a price. Yet when longing comes from the heart, even pain can be endured willingly, ripening into sweetness over time.
Sometimes, the rhythm of life softly falls, not as a command, but as an invitation. An invitation to set down our fatigue and listen anew to the melody deep within our soul… JR-workshop has always pursued a form of beauty that can condense time, understanding that a small piece of jewelry carries not only craftsmanship but also a profound answer to the resilient core of life itself.
This chased-and-enamelled silver brooch, inspired by the Ballerina, is crafted precisely to capture this fleeting moment of eternity. Silver lines outline the dancer’s graceful, upright posture. A soft, translucent pink-purple enamel fills the silver lines, allowing the intricate texture of the chiseled silver underneath to shine through.
Warm-toned enamel on a silver base is notoriously difficult to control; the slightest mishap can result in a muddy or impure finish. To present this specific hue of pure pink-purple, we spent months researching, adjusting, and conducting countless trials… Finally, the Dancing Moments brooch was ready to debut. The geometrically segmented skirt, sharp like unyielding angles, reflects the warmth of time like winter sunshine—gentle, yet possessing the strength to penetrate hardship.
Nietzsche said: “Every day in which we have not danced, we have betrayed the idea of our existence.” [1] Yet, life is not always a grand, spectacular stage; more often, it is an inner waltz. God always grants us the “time to dance” at the perfect moment, allowing us to rediscover the rhythm of life through grace… There is always fragmented beauty hidden in the corners. Even after experiencing the “time to mourn” in life, we will eventually welcome the release of the “time to dance.” May we find that dancing heart amidst the busy everyday, embrace warmth from the inside out in the cold winter, and not betray a single moment worthy of a dance. That fleeting glimmer, though brief, shines truly—it is the beautiful posture we actively choose in our ordinary years.
When a familiar melody begins, just a casual sway of the heart is enough to light up the entire winter. Pinned to your lapel, rocking gently with your movements, it refracts vivid colors in the morning sun and flickers softly beneath the evening lamplight. It is a “time to dance” silent declaration, a tribute to all persistence and passion.
Even if life has had its “season of mourning,” the “moment to dance” will arrive. May we find that dancing heart amidst the busy everyday, embrace warmth from the inside out in the cold winter, and not betray a single moment worthy of a dance. That fleeting glimmer, though brief, shines truly—it is the beautiful posture we actively choose in our ordinary years.
As the bells of Thanksgiving draw near, we are invited to look back at the year’s harvest—those seemingly ordinary days actually hold the traces of dance steps. Imagine being grateful for small favors by the candlelight of Thanksgiving dinner; smiling brightly for a thoughtful gesture beneath the Christmas tree’s starlight; or deciding to let go of regrets and turn lightly toward a brand-new tomorrow as the New Year chimes ring out… The true gift is the freedom within: the courage to dance on the stage of life, even if no one is applauding, to dance simply for the sake of that genuine heart.
May we meet a better version of ourselves, and meet that warm light, when it is time to dance.
